125-Year-Old Church used for reflective site-specific art

Churches are becoming the new home for site-specific art and this time St. John’s Church in North Lincolnshire, UK plays host.

Liz West‘s latest involves a floor-full of 700 multicolored orbs and is titled, “Our Colour Reflection”. The mirrors range in hue from yellow, purple, red, and blue to 11 other colors. The 125-year-old building is turned into a still canvas of sorts with multicolors projected onto its beams. West writes, “The work changes constantly, depending on what time of day it is. As darkness comes, the gallery spotlights reflect off the colored mirrors and send vivid dots of color up into the interior of the former church building, illuminating the neo-Gothic architecture.”
