Norwegian photographer Øystein Sture Aspelund has turned his lens towards architecture with the series CYAN and its sequel CYAN II. “The images can be seen as artistic interpretations of the buildings, structures and monuments they depict,” he said of the photos below that are part of the CYAN II project. “They are presented as fragments, in isolation from their original context, united through a colorful cyan sky.”
While some of the images have the contrasting color palate of pink to blue, other variations show a spectrum of green to orange. These wide contrasts remain subtle, not unlike the wide spectrum used for the 2016 Pantone Color of the Year.
