The natural world often serves as inspiration for artists, but this magnified view of chemical reactions changes a scientific experiment into a visual delight. The project ‘Beautiful Chemistry’ by Yan Liang was recently launched after a six-month development phase.
The project hopes to use “digital media and technology to bring the beauty and wonder from the chemistry world to a wide audience,” says their website. “At the molecular scale, we used advanced computer graphics and interactive technology to showcase some of the most beautiful chemical structures selected from a large volume of scientific literature.”

It goes on to explain that a visual exploration of scientific processes could serve to engage and entice students. But we think these visually stunning videos are of interest to more than just the scientifically inclined; we think they would engage and inspire visual artists as well. What do you think?
