For British artist Liz West’s latest installation, the fourth floor at Castlefield Gallery’s New Art Spaces Federation House was transformed into a giant rainbow-colored light show. The 5,000 square foot space was converted with artificial chromatic lighting, achieved with T8 fluorescent bulbs and cellulose gels.
“Using this enormous space to install a light work in the darkest winter months allowed the colour to bleed with more saturation than if displayed any other time of the year,” West explained. Her largest installation to date is an immersive opportunity to examine the ways people see and experience colors. Get lost inside of the fluorescent space in the pics below.
