9 surprisingly beautiful close-ups of something we often overlook

One of my favorite guessing games is the one where you are shown a picture of an object REALLY close up and you have to figure out what it is. The game often leaves me embarrassed when I fail to guess something that is actually a major part of my life. These photos by Berlin-based artist Ashvini Ray take something very close to us, the human body, and offer a fresh perspective by focusing on the close-up sculptural elements of the human form.

The black and white style photography removes the textures from being recognizable as skin just long enough for the viewer to objectively enjoy the abstraction. That moment reboots the mind and renews an interest in something we often overlook because, well, it is us.
