French art duo, and married couple, Pierre Javelle and Akiko Ida share a mutual love of photography and gourmet food. Naturally, they combine these special interests in their food art series entitled ‘Minimiam,’ in which tiny human figurines inhabit edible landscapes.
Like an adorable variation of the classic ’80s comedy ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,’ these charming photographs conjure up a fantasy world where people play tennis on watermelons, race bicycles on eggs or skateboard on a sliced avocado. The miniature figures are actually taken from model train kits – usually with a 1/87 scale. Minimiam is a portmanteau from ‘mini’ and ‘miam’ (yum in French).
