A Camera Made from 32,000 Drinking Straws

Photographer Michael (Mick) Farrell and Cliff Haynes perfected a way of capturing images using a wooden box filled with 32,000 drinking straws. Started in 2007, and undergoing several different versions, the Straw Camera basically works by processing the light collected through each straw (as opposed to a pinhole camera which creates an image from a single point).

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Due to the multitude of perspectives the resulting image looks a bit like a pointillist painting made up of many, tiny dots. See more images below or click here to check out the book recently released about the project!
