A couture coat with an impossibly vivid female face made of tulle graces the catwalk like never before

Our tulle master, Benjamin Shine, is back in Design Faves, this time with an amazing contribution to a hot fashion event early this year. During Paris Fashion Week in February, Maison Margiela’s artisanal show wowed the crowd as Benjamin Shine collaborated with designer John Galliano and created an incredible ghostly portrait of a woman.

The image was made of tulle and was used as an over-top of an all-white trench coat. The dark mesh material reveals a meticulously-crafted female face as it wraps around the model’s figure. Apparently, it took the duo several months to make the figure. The feminine face made of a single piece of tulle is secured in place by hand-stitches. The image came to life after more than 300 hours of hard work.
