A forest floating on the sea

The Bobbing Forest is a project by artist Jeroen Everaert, 20 young dutch elms have been planted in old repurposed and colorful sea buoys. On Wednesday, March 16th, they were released into the bay in Rijnhaven, Rotterdam.

And this is not just something meant to be pretty, there is an ulterior purpose behind this. Jeroen want to use his art to communicate in a positive way, changing the way people see themselves, the city, and nature. He also wants to call attention to the very urgent problem of the rising waters in the delta of the river, and the risks of flooding.
