A grim river flows through this pristine Denmark art museum

Better bring your hiking shoes to this new museum installation in Denmark. Olafur Eliasson, known for his large-sale installations, has transformed an entire wing of the pristine, white-walled gallery into a barren landscape with a nice little riverbed running through it.

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, just north of Copenhagen, is the home of this installation titled ‘Riverbed.’ Visitors are encouraged to walk around and explore the unique space. While perusing the gallery you will encounter dirt, rocks, and sediment in a place that is actually quite grim-feeling. The space highlights a small bit of life, a flowing river, and is a subtle reminder of the slow but sure process of nature taking back and erasing its own features over time.
