A Renovated Penthouse in the Center of Cesena, Italy

Located in the center of Cesena, Italy’s historic district, the CDR flat is a single family penthouse designed by tissellistudioarchitetti. The apartment was not an ideal place to live as the building had fallen into disrepair and the interior was broken up into smaller, unusable rooms. A major renovation took place, which included removing all non-structural walls to open the interior up, along with adding new windows to ensure increased natural light and ventilation.

On both floors of the apartment, chevron teak floors were installed to complement the white walls and ceilings. To give the spaces a bit of pop, tinted mirrors in a golden yellow show up in several spots.

The kitchen is partially contained behind a ribbed wall of hidden cabinets and shelves, which keeps the space clean and tidy when not in use. The irregular ribbed pattern, which is made of bamboo, brings another layer of texture to the space while adding additional visual interest.

For the stairs, a brushed brass handrail was installed, perfectly complementing the golden yellow mirrors.
