Sydney-based industrial designer Tom Fereday designed this eye-catching speaker for a design competition.

“SUONO is a unique sculptural speaker designed to work as table top, wall mounted or free standing speaker centred around a unique removeable magnetic wireless charging hub. Upon closer inspection the SUONO speaker reveals its tactile elliptical profile and inviting magnetic wireless connection. The perforated speaker wraps around the speaker body giving an abstract almost sculptural feel to the product creating an object designed to be celebrated and not hidden within the home.”

With Suono, Fereday won the Alessi Design Awards competition in the “established designer” category.
(The competition, sponsored by Vogue Living Australia, appears to have either been a one-off or was disrupted by the pandemic; its inaugural foray wrapped in March 2020, just before the worldwide lockdowns began, and it has not returned since.)
