A Sprawling Online Art and Craft Fair Where All Sales Go to the Artists

Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood, beloved for Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, is also home to the Barnsdall Art Center, which offers art classes to hundreds of Angelenos. In the fall, the center hosts an Art & Craft Fair showcasing the work of faculty and students, giving these local artisans and artists the chance to sell their work. As the park still hasn’t reopened since the COVID-19 lockdown began in March, the fair will take place online, where visitors will be able to peruse and purchase a wide array of handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, fiber arts, tableware, paintings, photography, and more. An added plus: All sales this year are going directly to the artists.

The Art & Craft Fair is launching this Sunday, November 15 with some special events. You can learn traditional Japanese pottery techniques with ceramicist Fred Chuang, and artist Alexa Hunter will be teaching how to cut and polish gemstones for jewelry-making. For those feeling especially festive, children’s book author and illustrator Rolandas Dabrukas will be demonstrating how to create colorful food mandalas.
