Australian photographer Steve Axford has captured images that only seem possible in science-fiction. His series of mushroom photographs give an up-close and detailed view of the strange textures, the spines, and the brilliant colors that he has found in the natural world.
The photographer has traveled the globe in his quest for images, finding rare plants and animals, as well as a diversity of people, to document with his work. Axford says, “My photography has been my avenue into this world as it slows me down and allows me to look at things more closely.”
