Acoustic jetty in Croatia makes music from ocean waves

Many derive pleasure from raw sounds of nature, but what if those sounds could literally be converted into music for our ears?

Architect Nikola Bašić has found a way to turn the sound of ocean waves into music. “Sea Organ”, as it’s called, might as well be counted as one of the wonders of the world. Located in Zadar, Croatia and constructed in 2005, the Sea Organ is an acoustic jetty spanning approximately 230 feet (70 meters) and is comprised of 35 polyethylene tubes. With the flooding of each tube, air is forced out, producing seven chords of five tones in all.
