Amazing 3D-printed sundial uses shadows to tell digital time

Sundials aren’t exactly obsolete. Mojoptix aims to bring them back with a contemporary twist using 3D printing.

Shadows and a 3D printer are all you need to create this amazing project. During the different times of day as the Sun moves about, the shadow cast through the carefully-placed perforations in the device displays digital time in 20-minute increments. One of the limitations of the device is that it only works between 10 am to 4 pm in the day.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Check it out in action below, and if you’d like to buy a ready-made one for yourself click here. If you’d rather print your own sundial, you can download the design files.
