Amazon biodomes will house 40,000 plants from 50 countries

These days, it seems like all the giant corporations want in on the sustainable trend. Apple has already mentioned their goals of building a small forest in their Cupertino headquarters and Airbnb has just recently set up a “living wall” inside their office at San Francisco. Unfortunately, Amazon has trumped them all.

The electronic commerce company has always wanted to incorporate nature in its offices even before the first ones were constructed. But their sustainable plans escalated to new and greater heights when they decided to build the Sphere – a 90-foot glass dome that will house a 60-foot living wall and more than 40,000 plants from 50 countries around the world.

The “biodomes” will be constructed in the middle of their grounds in downtown Seattle and will have varying temperatures during the day and night time. This is to ensure a healthy and conducive environment for the plants.
