Alexey Kozhenkov is a Moscow, Russia based photographer specializing in architecture, urbanism, and other unusual man-made structures. The self-taught photographer has recently published ‘Ambient Metropolis Light’, a photo series that shows the atmosphere of a utopian Hong Kong of the 1980s, its landscapes, and surreal architectural forms, frozen in time and without the presence of any humans under the diffused sunlight.
For the city of Hong Kong, the era of the 1980s was a time of change. It was marked by an unprecedented pace of construction, which made Hong Kong a city with extremely dense buildings and expensive real estates. Gigantic residential complexes and public spaces have been built in the style of architectural modernism. These buildings are now old and Hong Kong has changed significantly, but these buildings keep the memory of the past.
