On the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Luigi Rosselli Architects designed a modern home for ocean enthusiasts. The Pacific View Point residence is filled with oceanic references, from balconies that resemble docks to a staircase that mimics the underwater experience. The architects contrasted the home’s powerful exterior with a comfortable and livable space ideal for quiet contemplation and observation above the waves.

The home’s front facade is assembled in dramatic offset layers, creating a geometrical form that reflects the site’s irregular geology. The home’s complex angles were designed with a purpose — they both ensure optimized views of the ocean while maintaining privacy from neighboring homes.
The kitchen features the most natural materials in the home with wood countertops and a marching hardwood floor that resembles driftwood.
The grand staircase is centered around an elevator, put in place so the home could be occupied by multiple generations. Translucent glass block walls surround the staircase, an immersive light installation that is meant to mimic the experience of a scuba diver.
Resembling a luxury ship, the upper levels of the residence feature floor to ceiling windows that overlook the water. The angles of the home make it feel as though the rooms are reaching out over the sea. Both the living area and master bedroom open onto balconies that resemble ship decks.
A pop of color shines through in the bathroom, as a teal tiled accent wall connects the washroom back to the ocean.

In the backyard, an exposed above-ground swimming pool brings water even closer to the home.
