Taking advantage of a rare skin condition, Ariana Page Russell uses her skin as her distinctive artistic medium. Russell has dermatographia, which causes her to have incredibly sensitive skin that turns pink and bumps up in response to pressure or any kind of irritant. The marks take about a half hour to turn back to normal.
As a means of raising awareness about the condition as well as conveying her own personal experience, Russell writes, marks and stencils her skin, as well as works with impermanent tattoos.
