Anime Architecture: exhibit that acknowledges the inspiration for blockbuster Hollywood movies such as Avatar and The Matrix

No movie-goer ever scampers to credit and praise the film architect, most commonly known as the production designer, when the movie is finally done. Such is the business when it comes to movies. However, without these extremely imaginative and highly skilled creatives, most blockbuster fictional movies never would have made it to the screen.

Anime Architecture, a show currently on exhibit at the House of Illustration in London, is a collection of over 100 highly detailed and masterful drawings of the breathtaking backdrop of blockbuster movies. The images range from technical drafts made of ink and pencil and original watercolor paintings. Most of these drawings came from the anime cult classic Ghost in the Shell directed by Mamoru Oshii and based on the original Manga comic of Shirow Masamune. This exceptional film, later on, inspired the creation of the Avatar and The Matrix.

The exhibit will be on display at 2 Granary Square in London until Sept 10, 2017.
