Anonymous portraits made from suspended paint strokes

Chris Dorosz looks at paint strokes in an unconventional sense by suspending them in 3D space.

The San Francisco-based artist creates surreal sculptural portraits using strokes of paint. At first the hanging string-like objects appear to be arranged in a chaotic fashion, but a human face begins to emerge when viewed from a distance. Dorosz talks about the liquid medium saying it is, “a form that takes shape not from a brush or any human-made implement or gesture, but purely from its own viscosity and the air it falls through, as analogous to the building blocks that make up the human body (DNA) or even its mimetic representation (the pixel).”
