Appropriated sculptures altered into bright pop art

Chad Wys uses appropriation sculpture to talk about contemporary culture. He finds familiar objects like, figurines, busts, and paintings, and paints them with new-age poppy colors in sarcastic ways.

His work is influenced by dadaists like Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray and evokes sharp emotions with iconic imagery like nails, crying, and fashion. Wys says about his work: “Sourcing, displaying, and adapting materials from my urban environment has become both my process and my methodology for dealing with the culture, and the cultural information, I wish to critique.”
