Cindy shared what she will be using while she paints. Here are some of her favorite watercolor supplies:

Three sheets of heavyweight watercolor paper. Look for 300lb (640gsm) that’s 100% cotton. The surface texture is up to you, but you’ll want to work on a minimum of 8 inches by 10 inches or 11 inches by 14 inches.

Watercolor paints. “I’ll be using a variety of artist quality paints, like Da Vinci and Daniel Smith, with some of their iridescent sparkly ones as well.” But, if you don’t have those, that’s okay—even children’s paints will work in a pinch.

Paint palette. You can use a plastic palette or a porcelain dinner plate.

Watercolor brushes. Cindy recommends brushes with “soft, springy hair.” Avoid “stiff hog bristle oil brushes.” Also, you’ll want to go for variety. “All round or mop type brushes, no flats will be required.”

Two water containers.

Graphite pencils. A water-soluble graphite pencil is ideal for drawing the design on the paper. Alternatively, you can use a hard HB pencil.

Posca white pigment marker or white gel pen.

White charcoal pencil.
