Heather Hansen is one of those artists who isn’t afraid of working up a sweat while producing a wonderful piece of art. A giant paper canvas, and some pieces of charcoal grasped in each hand are all she needs before embarking on a gruelling physical routine. She begins by contorting her body into carefully choreographed gestures and the trails of charcoal record her movements behind her.
The kinetic drawings become a way for Hansen to merge her love for visual arts and dance into a unified art form. The patterns are distinctly reminiscent of the forms found in a Rorschach test or cycles found in nature.
