Artist reinterprets Hemmingway novel, packaging it inside a sardine tin

The Old Man and the Sea, by Ernest Hemingway, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and was cited when Hemingway was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Playing on the dichotomy of big and small,  a new package design by Nina Cornelison uses a tiny sardine can as the framing for the design of a story that speaks to the vastness of the ocean. Cornelison’s design shows a bold block-print styled sardine book cover that is revealed by opening the tin can. The illustrations within the book show flat, color-block shapes, one of which is of the famous blue marlin.
