ARTnews and Robb Report hold latest Art of Luxury at Miami Art Week

Last week, ARTnews and Robb Report held the latest edition of its Art of Luxury series coinciding with Miami Art Week and Art Basel Miami Beach.

The event, held at a private residence on Palm Island in Miami, featured a panel discussion moderated by ARTnews editor-in-chief Sarah Douglas on the intersections between art and consumer luxury industries, the rapid expansion of the art industry, and how social media and the internet at large are changing the how artists are discovered, vetted, and eventually signed by galleries.

Panelists included: textile artist Qualeasha Wood, who was featured on the cover of Art in America’s New Talent issue last year; Cindy Susilo, the marketing director for Roche Bobois, which recently collaborated with Wood on a one-of-a-kind BUBBLE sofa titled “A Window Seat (But You Can Sit Next To Me); Arthur Lewis, the creative director of United Talent Agency Fine Arts and ARTnews Top 200 Collector; and Devon Rodriguez, a Bronx, New York-based artist who has cultivated a massive following on social media with his realistic portraits of New York City Subway passengers.

Guests enjoyed the evening, with a selection of whisky tastings and Old Fashioneds by Glenfiddich, cocktails by Brugal and wine by Penfolds at a gorgeous Miami villa presented by Douglas Elliman. (And, in case you are in the market for a more permanent location ahead of next year’s Miami Art Week, the house is for sale too — just ask Elliman’s Lourdes Alatriste.
