Brand and packaging design by Behalf Studio for Atypical Coffee.
The creative team of Behalf Studio just completed this brand identity and packaging design project for Atypical, a coffee brand based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Atypical offers both retail and wholesale coffee products in order to combine selected local and imported flavors with a meticulous high-quality brewing method. Their cold brews (aptly named “Atypical Dose”) offer a wide range of flavors and blends. Behalf Studio designed a visual identity that combines the rawness of Saigon street culture with the refinement of the brand’s products. Inspired by the facade of the city, Atypical’s visual design prominently features a custom typeface inspired by the iconic “Khoan cắt bê-tông” (“Concrete drillers”) vandalism. The main surfaces of the packaging system and brand collateral feature photographs of the walls found across Saigon. For the cold brew packaging, they used images of iconic walls from the neighborhoods that the flavors are named after.
