Japanese digital artist Yugo Nakamura enlisted the help of technology to recreate the natural phenomenon of a rainstorm in his experimental short film ‘Amaoto no Yurai’ (The Origin of the Sound of Rain).
First, he recorded the sounds of individual water droplets on small objects like a rock, a snail, leaves and fingers. Then the clips were stitched together, gradually layered and mixed to build up an amazing digital rainstorm that sounds just as believable as the real thing. The phenomenal editing in the video visualizes the experiment loud and clear, going from a calm rhythm to a frantic pace within a minute.
