The very first International Bamboo Architecture Biennale took place last fall in the village of Baoxi, China.
There were over 18 permanent site-specific installations designed by twelve international architects. The structures, curated by artist Ge Qiantao and architect George Kunihiro, were made out of bamboo and speak for the versatility of the material through its use in contemporary works.

The plant has also been used to create bases for new buildings such as a youth hostel and a ceramics museum. Check out some of the structures below and learn more here.
