Barcelona installations use discarded tires to create imagined worlds

The gift of an artist is to use what you have to make something new. And this is just what a group of Spanish artists did recently in Barcelona. Using salvaged tires to create public installations, the simple, circular form is morphed into an element of repetition and movement.

The series of works is titled Pneumàtic and was created by the artists Octavi Serra, Iago Buceta, and Mateu Targa. “Onlookers are initiated into a playful dialogue between physical and imagined worlds,“ said the artists about the pieces. The works were installed earlier this year as part of the ÚS Barcelona Street Art Festival.
