Bard Graduate Center in NYC: Open Houses for MA in Material Culture, Design History, Decorative Arts

Bard Graduate Center in New York City trains emerging curators, researchers, educators, and museum professionals to ask new questions about the cultural history of the material world, from distant antiquity to the present. We study the human past through objects—from those created for obvious aesthetic value to the ordinary things that are part of everyday life. Our faculty include anthropologists, archaeologists, art historians, conservators, and curators. The core curriculum emphasizes writing, research and technical analysis, use of digital tools, and professional experience through paid internships and travel.

We offer generous scholarship support, comfortable housing near Columbus Circle, extensive research collections, and access to New York’s vibrant museums, galleries, and archives. In a recent survey of alumni, 85% were employed in the field within a year of graduation.
