Bizarre art decor for the modern home

Art director Rikako Nagashima recently teamed up with acrylic crafter Hideto Hyoudou on a project called ‘Mizukagami,’ which means “Water Mirror” in Japanese. The series consists of liquid-looking acrylic mirrors that appear to flow and drip over walls, tables and other surfaces before gathering into puddles.

The effect of the water mirrors is sometimes disturbing, evoking a Dali-like hallucination aesthetic. The sculptures appear as strange spilled mercury or could even be interpreted as pools of blood. The Mizukagami exhibit is at the ‘Rocket’ gallery in Shibuya, Japan where the work can be purchased and installed in your own home as slightly creepy decor.
