Blood portraits painted from smashed mosquitoes

The mosquito repellant, Glorix, has released a new ad campaign for their product which is both disturbing and… fitting. In their project ‘Blood Portraits,’ they hired an artist to paint human faces using the blood inside smashed mosquitoes.

Marketing company BBDO Russia is behind the idea with the goal of encouraging people to donate blood because, according to the video, “each drop of blood taken from a mosquito could be the last drop of blood to save a human being.” The paintings were displayed at an art gallery exhibition where they found great success in both increasing the visibility of Glorix and getting people to donate their blood.
