Bowers & Wilkins Gets into Formation with Faceted Wireless Audio Suite

Bowers & Wilkins is a favorite amongst aesthete consumers and audiophiles alike, respected for their catalog of carefully engineered componentry dressed in contemporary design. The launch of the Formation Suite brings this same level of consideration to the wireless audio category, with five components designed to look as good as they may sound.

Listen beautiful relax classics on our Youtube channel.

Our personal favorite of the multi-room collection is the faceted 120-degree elliptical speaker, the Formation Wedge. The angled and faceted shape – an inverse color evocation of the George Nelson Criss Cross Bubble Lamp – is pleasingly sculptural, but also designed to maximize the reproduction of a full-range of sound, housing high frequency, midrange and subwoofer components from a single source. Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Roon, and streaming from any Bluetooth source are all supported.

Bowers & Wilkins’ other four Formation Suite audio components include:

  • Formation Bar – Nine optimized drive units provide a wide soundstage including a dedicated center channel, so you always feel like you’re in the center of sound action.
  • Formation Duo – With the same carbon-domed, tweeter-on-top technology and Continuum cone driver as Bowers & Wilkins’ industry-defining wired speakers, now experience legendary sound, wirelessly.
  • Formation Bass – Opposed drivers, powerful amplifiers and Dynamic EQ provide accurate audio depth and dimension without distortion. Pairs with other Formation components for the ultimate audio immersion.
  • Formation Audio – Patented Formation Wireless Technology turns any traditional passive system into a high-fidelity streaming system for a best-of-all worlds sound experience.

Bowers & Wilkins delivers high 96/24 Bit Audio Resolution output with only a single microsecond wireless disparity between multiple speakers.

The all new Formation Wireless Technology enables a fidelity never experienced on a wireless system before. Now consumers can get the high-performance audio quality that they expect from Bowers & Wilkins with the convenience wireless systems offer. With Formation, we’re taking the superior quality sound Bowers & Wilkins is known for and coupling it with an unmatched, easy-to-use, wireless listening experience, making it the new standard in whole home audio.

-Greg Lee, CEO of Bowers & Wilkins

Similar to other multi-speaker wireless systems, the Formation Suite is designed to synchronize and stream audio to multiple output sources, allowing customers to build or grow according to need/budget. But unlike other multi-room systems like Sonos, filling up a home with the Formation Suite may require some serious budgeting, with all five pieces priced along the prosumer end: the Formation Bar priced at $1,199, the Formation Duo for $3,999, Formation Wedge at $899, Formation Bass $999, and the Formation Audio available for $699.
