Breathtaking series explores world’s most vibrant salterns

We’ve covered that amazing iceberg photo by David Burdeny before, but he’s back at it again with an equally awesome series.

Burdeny’s latest series SALT: Fields, Plottings and Extracts began in 2015 with aerial photography exploring breath-taking salterns in Utah, Mexico, and Australia. It’s amazing how solid the colors are and appear to be painted onto the landscape! An essay written by Burdeny about the project, describes, “In their use of amorphous shapes, elongated fields of color and vertical, jagged and sinuous lines, Burdeny’s images suggest the painterly expressiveness of Rothko, Still, Newman, Diebenkorn and late career Willem de Kooning.” Check out some of the photos below and find more amazing images by Burdeny on his website.
