Born in Taunton, Somerset in 1977, Tom Hackney is an artist who has developed a personal approach to the creative task of grid painting. In a series of grid canvases, Hackney creates a link to famous chess matches by Marcel Duchamp. Tom Hackney has studied from 1997 – 2000 at Manchester Metropolitan University where he received his BA (Hons) in Fine Art 1st Class. Later on, he studied from 2006 – 2008 at Goldsmiths College, University of London and graduated with a Masters Degree in Fine Art. Today he lives and works in London. Over the past years, his artworks could be seen in numerous exhibitions both nationally and abroad. A fine selection of work can be found additionally below.
