Bus Drivers Forced to Pedal Roadside Stationary Bikes While Buses Whiz Past at High Speed

If I miss one thing about New York City, it’s being able to hop on a bicycle to run a quick errand. What I don’t miss are city buses roaring past you, uncomfortably close, while you eyeball the gigantic rolling tires that could crush you like a tin can.

In the Brazilian municipality of Cariacica, it’s the law that bus drivers must allow 1.5 meters of space between the side of their bus and any cyclist. In order to impress the importance of this upon the drivers, the city has come up with a novel training method that the drivers must undergo:
