By Hand: Intimately cupped hands concealed within bricks of red clay

Dan Stockholm channels the intimacy involved in cupping hands together marvellously through clay.

Titled, “By Hand,” the installation is composed of several red brick-like forms with cracks and crevices that open up to reveal cupped hands. Some pieces are less explicit in that you can only make out a finger or thumb. The intimate moments rendered speak of Stockholm’s 2013 performance in which he touched every inch of his father’s house after he passed away.
