Cabinet Design, When No Boards or Sheet Goods are Available

This Torso cabinet, by Stockholm-based industrial designer Mars Hwasung Yoo, was created from mass-produced broomsticks:

While the material choice was apparently for fanciful purposes, this type of construction would lend itself well to an area where bamboo was abundant.

I’m digging the silliness of the cabinet, the fact that it looks like a pair of pants (name aside). And I like that deeper objects can be stored in the “legs.”

And the construction can of course be adapted to other forms:

I’d love to see a designer who works with bamboo expanding on this concept.
