Call for Applications: $90,000 MFA Fellowship for New Americans

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans was created to support outstanding immigrants and the children of immigrants pursuing graduate school in the United States. With the goal of highlighting the many ways that New Americans contribute to society and culture, the fellowship supports 30 individuals every year with up to $90,000 in funding for the graduate program of their choice.

The active alumni network includes artists, designers, architects, directors, writers, composers, and musicians as well as doctors, lawyers, public health experts, professors, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships will support my graduate studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As an undocumented applicant with DACA, funding my graduate school education was particularly worrisome. Being selected as a PD Soros Fellow alleviated this concern and emboldened me to continue documenting the nuances of the undocumented experience through art. This life-changing investment in my development will allow me to focus entirely on exploring multi-layered work that refuses any singular narrative of what it means to be an undocumented American. It is an honor to take this crucial step in my art career alongside incredible past and present PD Soros Fellows leading and making history in their fields.
