Iconic Italian design brands Alessi and Kartell, are sponsoring the Parmigiano Reggiano® Design Challenge – inviting professional designers and design students to submit product design concepts based on the theme of “AUTHENTICITY”.

The competiton is open now and is FREE to enter. The deadline for submission of entries is SEPTEMBER 15, 2021.
The brief is to elevate the human experience through products that celebrate authenticity across the journey of enjoying a meal – with products that fall in three general categories: Cooking, Eating and Sitting. The product concepts that can be entered in the contest range from cooking tools (like graters and cutting boards), to tableware (like dinner plates and tablecloths), and even furniture (like dining chairs and tables).
The idea is to submit product concepts designed to create a better and more authentic experience at every point across the journey of preparing and enjoying a meal. Designers are invited to consider materials, technologies, functionality and sustainability as part of their concepts. The entries can be submitted online as sketches, renderings, or photos of prototypes.
The prize for the Best of Show winner is a one week, all expenses paid trip to Italy for two – that includes VIP private tours of the sponsors facilities! Additionally, the winners in each category will receive Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, plus gifts from the sponsors.
The panel of jurors who will ultimately select the winners, includes some of the design industry best known thought leaders – Karim Rashid (The multidisciplinary design icon), Mauro Porcini (CDO, PepsiCo), Ayse Birsel and Bibi Seck (Studio Birsel+Seck), and Pietro Rovatti (Brand Director for Parmigiano Reggiano).
