Ceramic donuts are exhibited in NYC gallary

At Lyons Wier Gallery in NYC, the exhibition Pop Goes the Donut features works by South Korean-born ceramicist Jae Yong Kim. In the exhibition, one large-scale donut montage titles Donut Ever Forget Me includes a variety of glazed donuts that are made using ceramics glazes and mixed media. Other works in the exhibition reference the well-known Soup Can series by Andy Warhol.

“Without my intention, references to Pop Art have been a consistent occurrence throughout the entirety of the donut artworks,” said the artist in a statement. The artist has been living in the U.S. for the past 20 years, having moved to the country to study ceramics at the University of Hartford and Cranbrook Academy of Art.
