London-based Charlotte Kidger is a material designer who recently graduated from Central Saint Martins with an MA in Material Futures. Her work is process driven, exploring how to turn industrial waste materials into secondary raw materials to see if something new can be created. Through that exploration, Kidger created a durable composite material made with polyurethane foam dust that’s a by-product of CNC fabrication. Instead of that material going to a landfill, she’s able to cold cast it and create colorful 3D objects, like vessels and tables.

Kidger’s collection will go on display as part of the exhibition Material of the Year: Plastic, Beyond the Chipper during next month’s London Design Fair.
