China restaurant uses a team of robots to perform basic eatery tasks

Next time you are in Kunshan, Eastern China, you must stop by this restaurant from the future. This diner-looking eatery relys on a team of robots to perform basic tasks that keep the place running smoothy. Your meal might be cooked or served by the bots and you will probably even be greeted at the door by one when you enter.

The restaurant’s owner Song Jugang explains that it costs around £4000 (≈6600 USD) to keep these robo-workers employed. This is the same yearly compensation as for a human employee. He still has a staff of humanoids as well though, pointing out that the robots have their drawbacks. They have a limited vocabulary and take two hours to charge for a five hour shift. This restaurant becomes just the third in the world to rely on robots as employees.
