Classic Japanese paintings are already teeming with expression. To pay tribute to them artist Segawa 37 did something amazing.
As if the Japanese art style isn’t lively enough, Segawa 37 decided it was time to bring it into the modern GIF movement by animating various parts of classic Japanese paintings. Originally painted on woodblock, also known as Ukiyo-e, the now-animated works show great potential to reel in modern artists with a new perspective of classical art. Segway scooters, trains, and fireworks not only make the paintings more interested but also a tad funny.
