This is an important theme for the artist, Yamamoto’s works are in fact a way to stop time in a static form, that of stone. The creations are thus able not only to stop the hourglass but also to preserve a memory of crumpled, wrinkled objects, which convey a lived experience, and not their ideal shape.
“Penso che il materiale ceramico corrisponda molto bene alla nostra esistenza umana attraverso la sua forte presenza e fragilità. Diventa memoria, gli oggetti fatti in ceramica li sento come ricordi poetici della nostra solitudine assoluta, delle gioie e dei dolori della nostra vita quotidiana.” ha spiegato Masami Yamamoto.La vera sfida dell’artista è quella di riportare le qualità dei tessuti attraverso un materiale differente dalla lana e dal cotone. Difficile ricreare la morbidezza dei tessuti, così come il loro calore, allora Yamamoto sfrutta il momento in cui l’argilla è ancora malleabile, a servizio dell’uomo e della ricerca di portare il concetto di tempo in un oggetto immateriale.
