Felicia Simion
Felicia Simion’s photography, although entirely true to nature, has an ethereal quality. To use her own words, “In art, I situate myself somewhere near the thin line between reality and otherworldliness, easily floating from one side to another.” In her photographs, nature seamlessly lends itself to eye-catching patterns, and human forms blend with the surrounding imagery. In 2018, Felicia graduated with a master’s degree in ethnology following her undergraduate degree in photography and video. She is the recipient of several awards, honors, and exhibitions throughout Europe including two solo exhibitions at the National Peasant Museum, Bucharest, and other solo exhibitions in Belgrade and London. Barbara Kuebel
Printmaker and painter Barbara Kuebel is a master of both color and form. Her prints, which often only use one hue, compositionally rely entirely on line and form. Human forms bend and stretch to creatively fill largely square picture planes, resulting in abstracted images that speak to Barbara’s source of inspiration: the peculiar group dynamics and behaviors of humans caught in a crowd, or waiting in line. Her paintings, on the other hand, combine striking colors and expressionist forms into playful, spontaneous compositions. Barbara studied painting at the Academy of Fine Art in Vienna, Austria, and has since lived and worked around the world—including in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Brazil, and most recently in Alabama. Rob Van Hoek
Rob Van Hoek utilizes geometric shapes, subtle patterning, and an intentionally restricted color palette to achieve his distinctive landscape paintings. His work has a calming effect, transporting the viewer to an idealized, cultivated, and bucolic atmosphere through the use of line, rhythm, and shape. As a self-taught artist, Rob has successfully exhibited at leading galleries throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, France, and South Korea, with recent exhibitions at Biscuit Factory Newcastle, Greenstage Gallery UK, and the Affordable Art Fair London. Brian Reinker
Collage artist Brian Reinker’s work has gone through several different iterations throughout his time with Saatchi Art. A constant experimenter, Brian creates some collages with meticulous details and hand-drawn elements. Some recall the organic, undulating forms, of nature, while others consist of horizontal bars in colorful gradients, suggesting an abstracted horizon line. What remains consistent is Brian’s attention to detail and precision. Brian studied at the University of Cincinnati, earning degrees in both fine art and architectural design. He later studied life drawing at the Art Students League in New York, before pursuing master’s studies at the Architectural Association London. In January of this year, Brian was named one of Saatchi Art’s 21 Artists to Watch in 2021. See more of Brian’s work here.
Soo Beng Lim
Formally trained as a graphic designer, Soo Beng Lim finds his passion in art-making in various mediums of acrylics, batik, and more recently, watercolor. His drawings and paintings of animals are not posed. Instead, they capture a single motion or look, maintaining each animal’s unique character. His ink wash watercolor technique allows for a diversity of textures so that you can see the difference between a soft fury coat and a prickly whisker. A selection of Soo Beng’s earlier paintings were presented to the late Malaysian Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman.
