Performance art is revered for its courageous efforts to blend multiple art forms together into something truly awe-inspiring. Alexa Meade is a performance artist that deals with multiple art forms.
The artist, who started out as a student of politics in Washington D.C. creates some compelling scenes featuring live actors covered in body paint from head to toe. They look like they just walked out of a painting! She refers to her work as “reverse trompe l’oeil” and combines installation, painting, photography, and performance for her pieces. Meade cites the emotion in her work saying, “If you are a painter painting on canvas you don’t have to care about its feelings or emotions. The canvas doesn’t have to go to the bathroom.”
