Copper animals carry the weight of nature on their backs

It was hard for artist Wang Ruilin to leave people out of the equation. “Leaving people behind is painful” he said, but it’s exactly why his series entitled ‘Dreams’ feels one with nature, more grounded, and closer to the truth. Using only animals to communicate, the Chinese artist shows us how much these creatures bare the weight of the world.

Channeling eastern spirits Ruilin bestows each animal with god-like properties. The animals hold parts of nature on their back, as if protecting and guiding them from that which could destroy it. All the sculptures are made of copper in an interesting process where they end up looking more like porcelain.
